we don't just talk about mental health; we build it into everyday life. our approach is:
Focusing on making youth feel more connected and purposeful. This increases the likelihood of youth graduating, avoiding depression, and building healthy relationships.
Offering activities which nurture emotional, social, spiritual, and physical wellness through mentorship, mindfulness, creativity, and hands-on invitations to master skills proven to build resilience.
Rising Up Together provides an opportunity for community members to host our program. This organizational structure impacts youth and adults in many areas across the nation
Beyond prevention, we help youth discover who they are, find purpose, and create real belonging. This type of connection fosters resilience.
All-inclusive ensuring that youth from all walks of life are seen, heard, and valued. We believe learning tools necessary to belong should be available to all youth.
Creating a program that focuses on building relationships between parents and youth. It also creates opportunities to connect using additional resources throughout the community.
Making sure youth don’t just learn resilience but learn to live it. Through service, leadership, and peer mentorship, our program allows youth to gain skills that last a lifetime.
What Does Research Say?
Building resilience is shown to increase the body’s capacity to resist disease and prevent adverse health outcomes. Lower resilience is associated with increased depressive and anxiety symptoms. Quality interpersonal relationships have also been associated with greater resilience, leading to fewer depression symptoms.
The curriculum in The Resilient Youth Program is tailored with the intention of building resilience while establishing positive connections amongst children and youth.
Research has indicated that high self-worth, low social acceptance, low trust beliefs in others, and low trusting in early childhood increased the odds of an increase in the trajectory of loneliness over the life span. General sense of belonging has been shown to be correlated with depressive symptoms and outcomes. Having a greater sense of belonging through connection is correlated with being a protective factor for mental health, improving purpose in life, happiness and confidence.
The Resilient Youth Program works to increase youth’s capacity for establishing meaningful connection and self-purpose. Establishing connection and exploring purpose through social relationships can promote social acceptance and trust.
